An Edge Device in IRIS+ is a hardware or software component deployed on-site to process video analytics locally. It connects directly to IP cameras, runs AI detection agents in real-time, and reduces bandwidth usage by sending only metadata (not raw video) to the cloud or on-premise servers. Edge Devices support hybrid deployments and are managed via the IRIS+ portal.

Customers are always the data controllers, determining the purposes and means of processing personal data. Irisity acts as a data processor, processing data solely under the customer's instructions. This distinction is outlined in Irisity's Privacy Policy.

This means the customer is responsible for ensuring that the collection and processing of video data comply with applicable laws and regulations. Irisity processes video data strictly according to the customer's instructions, as detailed in the Video Privacy Policy.
Read MoreIRIS+ uses strong industry-standard encryption to protect both data at rest and data in transit. All systems handling confidential data are encrypted using XTS-AES-256 or stronger. When data is transmitted over public or untrusted networks, IRIS+ uses encryption based on RSA with 2048-bit keys or better, following secure key exchange and protocol negotiation standards. For cloud deployments, video and metadata are protected using encryption services provided by Google Cloud Platform (GCP). These include hardware-backed key storage and customer-managed encryption keys where required. For on-premise installations, customers retain full control over their storage and network environment. Irisity recommends and supports encrypted deployments, and tools such as BitLocker or equivalent must be used for securing endpoints and storage devices. Encryption protocols are applied across: -Stored video recordings and metadata -User credentials and authentication tokens -Communication between system components -Remote access via VPNs and 2FA-enforced tunnels This approach ensures confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information and supports compliance with GDPR and ISO/IEC 27001 requirements.
Yes. Admins assign permissions via Security Groups, restricting folder/camera access enabling restriction of access by folder, camera, or specific features. This ensures that users have access only to the data and functionalities necessary for their roles.
Users configure 2FA via Account Settings > Configure Authenticator using an app like Google Authenticator.
IRIS+ logs user actions, system changes, and access attempts for compliance audits.
IRIS+ includes features like black masking, dynamic masking, and background masking to anonymize individuals in live and recorded video. At sensitive installations, such as schools, complete anonymization is employed, where detected individuals are white-masked or replaced with low-resolution versions to hide identities. This approach aligns with GDPR's "Privacy by Design" principle.
